Heading into what should be a happy long weekend with a very sad little boy and feeling broken myself. 4 children today made monkey noises and gestures at our son. This is a 2 year battle with an increasing number of children acting in this manner. We plead that you take a moment to understand how hard this is for us as a family and how life long this experience will be. We have no control over this situation but ask for your support in ensuring it’s viewed as entirely unacceptable in your world too. We are genuinely at a loss how there is a small cohort of such awful mindset in the school and value anything you can do to stand with us on the unacceptability of this. And if this message upsets you (as a previous appears to have for a few) then take a long hard look at your compassion. ... See MoreSee Less

PTA Aims

The aim of our PTA is to raise extra funds for the school, and in doing so to hold a variety of events for the children and their families.

We have a committee comprising of parents and staff who meet each term to plan events. Behind the scenes we also have a lot of very supportive parents who help out at the large events such as the Christmas Fayre, the Summer Fayre, School Discos etc.

Not every event is solely to raise money. During the year we try to organise a couple of social evenings for families. For example we have a popular ‘Bingo’ evening. These occasions help to bring together parents, staff and children outside school hours socially.

Having raised the money we then ask the headteacher and staff which items the school is in need of. We also subsidise the cost of swimming and some school trips or in-school workshops.

We are always looking for new members or ideas. The Annual General Meeting is held in September, so do come along. We are open to any suggestions to help our children to have the best opportunities in school.

Money raised in a typical year goes towards some of the following activities and events:

— paying for coach trips to subsidise the cost of school trips

— visits to school by external organisations such as the Planetarium and Huxley’s Owls

— subsidising swimming lessons

— providing goodies for the Christmas lunch

— running an Easter Egg hunt

— providing the Year 6 leavers hoodies
