School Governors

Schools governors work to plan the strategic direction of the school, oversee budgets, and support and challenge the headteacher. As part of the governing board, governors play a vital role in helping schools run efficiently and effectively to give children the best education possible. Schools with strong governing boards are better equipped to make important decisions that affect the education they provide for their pupils.

They enable the school to run as efficiently as possible, working alongside senior leaders and supporting teachers to provide excellent education for our children.

Governors' Vision Statement: To provide effective governance that embraces the school's vision and values to achieve a positive, safe and successful learning journey for all pupils, while working collaboratively with leaders, staff, families and stakeholders.

Meetings

The Full Board of Governors meeting is held once a term. There are two sub-committees which focus on school performance, quality of teaching, curriculum, finances, staffing matters and premises. These sub-committee meetings are also held once a term. In addition the Governors visit the school to monitor teaching in the classroom, discuss strategy with school leaders, review safeguarding procedures, attend school events and performances. A Governors' Surgery is arranged during the school year at various times. Governors will always be happy to discuss school matters with families and should you wish to know when Governors are in school, or wish to arrange a meeting, please contact the school office.
